Reflexology

Reflexology is a method of diagnosis and treatment through the foot. The sources of this technique are ancient and can be traced back to the ancient Egyptians. Over the last few decades this method became widespread in Europe, though its initial development took place primarily in the United States.

Reflexology uncovers one of the wonders that the Creator built into the human body. The structure of a person’s body and his personality are reflected in the physical structure of his feet and in the sensations of pain and pleasure from the heel to the toes. These transfer information about the condition of the systems of the body to the reflexologist. The system is popular throughout the world and in Israel and has been put to use successfully in many hospitals and clinics.

A person’s foot “writes” on itself and inside it his chronic weaknesses and tendencies. The reflexologist’s job is to identify these and to balance the condition of the body and its systems by massaging and pressuring specific points in each foot. There are many reflexological maps published in the world that pinpoint the reflection of specific limbs on the feet, but we do not know which of these maps is the most precise.

The unique way reflexology is taught at Shelem is based on the fetal principal introduced by Eldad Nakkar in his book Reflexholism. This principle provides students of reflexology with a very precise and logical map of the human body on the feet and also opens a window for them to understanding the holistic outlook on life in general.

They acquire experience in writing medical histories, carry out a sequence of treatments and observe the patient, training them for clinical work.

The training takes place in Shelem and includes 14 sessions with a general discussion after each session. Participation in this course is required by the Israeli Union of Reflexologists in order to acquire certification as a reflexologist.

Stage Reflexology (following second year)
This course is designed for graduates of the second year reflexology track. The course is given in hospitals or nursing homes. Its purpose is to enable the student to diagnose personality and health problems and to acquire clinical experience over a sequence of treatments.

The course includes 14 sessions and a discussion after each session. It is a requisite for certification as a reflexologist by the Israeli Union of Reflexologists.
