Feldenkrize

This method is concerned with posture and awareness through movement. Most of us are not aware of the way that we use our muscles in our daily lives. However, this awareness is critical because movement of the body has definite implications for the physical and psychological functioning of the person.

According to the Feldenkrize theory, movement should be activation of the body in an aware fashion that improves a person’s abilities and is close to the natural movement of the human. This must follow the release of information about the hangups created within the body by the pressures of daily life. Among professionals there is a saying that the acquisition of this technique means to makes the impossible, possible; the hard, easy; and the easy, pleasant.

Among topics studied: awareness of skilled movement, group guidance to improvement of movements, the acquisition of tools for carrying out daily actions and strengthening the connection between body and soul through movement

Physiology and anatomy are taught by a doctor; the Feldenkrize teacher has a Ph.D. and is an expert at teaching this system.
